RAPTOR SERIES

Rhino Raptor gun safes are made in the USA with global components

Raptor sits in the middle of our line. 12-gauge steel, the same patented SafeX® Security System that protects the top of our line, 80 minutes of fire protection, and capacity up to 78 long guns. Every size is Swing Out Gun Rack compatible.

Raptor sits in the middle of our line. It carries more steel and more fire protection than the Falcon series below it, and it is the lowest priced safe we make that reaches 78 long guns. It arrives with the same patented anti-pry locking system, the same UL listed lock, the same lifetime warranty and the same plant in Idaho behind it as everything above it.

An affordable gun safe usually means a thinner box with a cheaper lock. That is not what is happening here. What separates Raptor from our heavier series is fire time and steel thickness. More steel and more fire board cost more to make, and that is the whole of the difference in price. What does not change is the security design. The thing that keeps a pry bar out is identical across our whole line.

The Same SafeX® System, In 12 Gauge

Anyone hunting for the best gun safe for the money ends up comparing steel gauge and fire ratings across brands. Here is the part those spec sheets leave out. Most safes near this price throw bolts behind the door frame, and levering the body away from the door leaves those bolts nothing to grip. Our patented SafeX® Security System interlocks the door and the body instead, so prying works against the structure rather than the bolt throw. It is standard on Raptor, exactly as it is on the series above.

Raptor bodies are formed from 12 gauge steel. Behind the dial sits a ball bearing drill plate and a spring loaded relocker that fires if the lock is attacked, and the handle is our patented anti-tamper clutched design. Every Raptor carries a UL listed lock and is UL certified RSC and California DOJ compliant, which is the certification most insurers and California buyers are actually asking about.

80 Minutes Of Fire Protection

Raptor is rated for 80 minutes at 1400°F. Fireboard runs through the ceiling, the walls, the floor and the door, and a heat activated intumescent seal expands up to eight times its size as the temperature climbs, closing the gap around the door against heat and smoke.

We will not call it fireproof, because no safe is. Fire resistant is the honest term, and a fire rating is a window of time measured under test conditions. Eighty minutes is a real margin for a house fire that gets reported quickly. If you want a wider one, that is the Lightning series at 120 minutes or the Thunderbolt series at 160.

Four Sizes, 40 To 78 Long Guns

Count the long guns you own, then add the next five years. Raptor runs from a 630 pound safe that fits a normal closet wall up to the same 78 gun footprint as our heavier series, so you are not forced to spend more to get the room you need. Capacity assumes the interior is set up for long guns. Add optics and the practical number comes down, which is where a swing out rack earns its keep.

The Four Sizes At A Glance
40 long guns. 60"H x 30"W x 25"D, about 630 lbs.
49 long guns. 66"H x 36"W x 25"D.
56 long guns. 72"H x 41"W x 27"D.
78 long guns. 72"H x 53"W x 27"D, about 1,103 lbs.

Each size comes three ways. The standard and gloss finishes use a five spoke vault style handle with decorative finials and can be ordered in custom colors. The Ironworks finish is antiqued, with a cast hand wheel handle, for a heavier industrial look. Same steel, same fire rating, same lock package on all three.

What Comes Standard

None of this is an upcharge. The fully upholstered Rhino Vector™ interior with rifle rods, a deluxe door organizer with handgun holders and pockets, factory installed LED wand lighting with an infrared motion sensor, internal electrical with USB outlets, and floor anchoring hardware. External hinges let the door open a full 180 degrees, which matters more than people expect when the safe sits in a corner. Every Raptor is also cut to accept a swing out gun rack, sold separately.

Raptor safes are made in the USA with global components at our plant in Caldwell, Idaho.

Limited lifetime warranty. The same warranty that covers the top of our line covers Raptor. It takes care of defects in workmanship and materials, and, unlike most warranties in this category, damage from an attempted or actual break-in, or from a fire.
